HeadsUP has started! This project is all about documenting objects in Hat Works Museum collection and sharing what we find. We have a lots of hats, tools and other items related to millinery and the hat trade that have not been documented.
Knowing what is in the collection is really important and is part of looking after all the objects in our care. It allows us to make informed decisions about about we collect, it enables us to plan new displays and it means we can share what we find with a wide audience. We can’t do any of these things if we don’t know what’s in the boxes!
Thanks to a SIF grant (Sustainable Improvement Fund) from Arts Council England awarded by Museum Development North West, we will be running a skills development programme so that people can learn valuable collections skills whilst helping us in the process.
