Thanks to the HeadsUP project, we now have brand new How To guides for volunteers, Museum Assistants and Officers to help us answer collection enquiries and carry out our environmental / pest management. The guides cover everything from offers to the collection to loan requests. This is currently available for people working in Stockport Museums but we have had numerous requests for electronic copies from other museums – we are always happy to share so if you would like copies please email bronwen.simpson@stockport.gov.uk.

We have been using the starch paste method to mark objects. The video below gives some really good tips for this process. We use pre-cooked starch paste so it does not need to be cooked in the microwave. We also use Japanese rice paper, not copier paper as suggested in the video – this adheres much better to the object.
